Thinner insulation - greater energy efficiency also in construction and building industry

According to EU directives, a substantial decrease of energy use for heating of buildings is anticipated, eventually for 50% by 2050. Therefore, if using classical insulation materials, the buildings' insulation thickness has to increase. However, vacuum insulation panels (VIP) can give the same thermal resistance using a thinner construction.

The use of conventional insulation materials, such as mineral wool, demands thick insulation in the construction (around 20-30 cm). TURVAC VIP is a rather new thermal insulation component which can be used in buildings and construction (i.e. adaptations). With 8 times higher thermal resistance than e.g. mineral wool, an outstanding improvement in energy performance can be reached using vacuum insulation panels. Additionally, due to thinner insulation the features and aesthetics (design) of the building can be preserved.

Enable new design and construction possibilities while building and adaptation with TURVAC® Vacuum insulation panels

Vacuum insulation panels are used in new buildings, adaptations and retrofitting of old buildings.

Favoring tendency of architects and other construction specialists for improvement of economic planning and design, VIPs are the best possible solution where profitable use of space is a must.

Different applications of VIPs in construction and adaptation:

    • Floors - where the requirements on the thermal resistance are high, alternatively where the construction thickness is limited.

    • Floors with floor heating  - VIP can be used to increase the efficiency of the floor heating system.

    • Doors - to increase the thermal performance up to 50%.

    • Exterior walls - glazed façades can be thinner while maintaining the thermal resistance.

    • New buildings - both in light-weight timber frame walls and in heavy concrete walls.

    • Old buildings - on the exterior or interior of the existing wall.

    • VIP can be integrated in a structural sandwich panel.

    • Flat roofs and terraces - VIP can be used to increase the thermal resistance of the construction.

NOTE: A detailed technical drawing of where each VIP should be installed during the construction is needed before construction starts since the panels cannot be adjusted on the construction site.

8% reduction in emission of greenhouse gases

Studies show that use of the VIP technology in the construction industry is increasing during the last few years. The official numbers for the EU show that using VIP in buildings could account for most of the very challenging target of 8% reduction in emission of greenhouse gases (Kyoto Protocol).

TURVAC® products are solving contemporary insulation challenges of limited spaces

Vacuum Insulation Panels TURVAC® is a highly efficient thermal insulation material developed to maximize the usable surface area and provide high thermal performance considering different technical constraints.
